Action « Love Unites »

Pour aider à collecter de l’argent afin de faire annuler l’interdiction du mariage gay en Californie, Tegan et Sara personnalisent chacune leur tour le célèbre poster « Love Unites » de Shepard Fairey (ci-contre).

Bon, l’offre minimale pour chaque œuvre est quand même de $550.
Certes, c’est pour une bonne cause mais ça fait quand même cher le poster.

tegan et moi avons toutes deux personnalisé des copies de l’artiste américain Shepard Fairey (créateur de « Obey » et de l’image iconique « Obama Hope ») pour aider à collecter de l’argent pour l’organisme FAIR et la prise de conscience d’une égalité du mariage !

tegan a créé un collage d’une carte des USA avec la déclaration “UNITE THE STATES” (UNIFIEZ LES ETATS) pour montrer son désir d’un pays uni par une solidarité pour l’égalité et des droits de l’homme pour tous.

sur ma copie, j’ai ajouté un extrait d’un discours exaltant que Paul Martin, notre Premier Ministre de l’époque, a tenu tandis que notre gouvernement adoptait l’Acte du Mariage Civil, qui protège notre droit à un mariage pour les personnes du même sexe au Canada.

My name is Sara. I am a gay Canadian. In 2005 it became legal for me to marry the person I loved. Legally. This is part of Prime Minister Paul Martins address on bill C-38 (the Civil Marriage Act) Paul Martin’s speech inspired me deeply. –> « … The Charter was enshrined to ensure that the rights of minorities are not subjected, ARE NEVER subjected, to the will of the majority. The rights of Canadians who belong to a minority group must always be protected by virtue of their status as citizens, regardless of their numbers. These Rights must never be left vulnerable to the impulses of the majority. WE embrace freedom and equality in theory, Mr. Speaker. WE must also embrace them in fact. The charter is a living document, the heartbeat of our Constitution. It is also a proclomation. It declares that as Canadians, we live under a progressive and inclusive set of fundamental belief about the value of the individual. It declares that we all are lessened when any one of us is denied a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT.
